| This defence post lies beside
the main railway at Silk Mills, Taunton. In WWII the Supply Reserve Depot.
(SRD), situated on the eastern outskirts of Norton Fitzwarren, had a rail
network installed to service the vast number of storage sheds and this
network was linked to the main GWR line. A
new road bridge is to replace the level crossing and there were fears that
the post might be demolished, it has however been confirmed (December 2004)
that the post is to be preserved.
