This variant type brick shuttered pillbox, pentagonal in plan, stands by the roadside at Vale House, Roadwater.   (photos 12.11.05)

[Map ref. ST 02768 38054]

This appears to be the front of the structure, with one loophole facing south-west and the other north-west, covering the road junction to the west. The steel loophole shutters have survived.  The structure has five loopholes in total, one in each of it's walls.

This, south, side faces the road.  The entrance, with one loophole to it's right, is on the structure's north side.  This pillbox was originally camouflaged as a garden building with a pitched roof.

The structure was scheduled as a monument in 2002 (see next page).
