somerset pillboxes

At Porlock Weir, two Type 24 beach defence pillboxes still survive although the structure above has collapsed forward into the beach.

[Map ref. SS 86475 48008]

This box, in common with the other pillboxes in this area, was constructed from reinforced concrete with block shuttering and then given a camouflage coating of beach pebbles.

The structure faces north-east (032 deg.) out toward Porlock Bay.
