This Type 24 pillbox stands at Midsomer Norton railway station, the structure was part of GHQ Stop Line Green.

[Map ref. ST 66386 53609]

The entrance porch is built to the same design as that found on the Type 24 pillbox at Highbridge Station (see SOMERSET section) and many other pillboxes on GHQ Stop Line Green.

Through the loophole view of the signal box.  Various station buildings have already undergone refurbishment, the pillbox was hidden beneath layers of foliage before being 're-discovered', and work is continuing on the many other tasks still to be done on site.  The volunteers carrying out the work are a great bunch, full of enthusiasm and I'm sure it won't be too long before a passenger service is running, 2008 is the target.  See the Somerset & Dorset Railway website at

The pillbox faces south-east (142 deg.).
