| Standing just to the south of
the West Somerset Railway track on Ker Moor, between Blue Anchor and Dunster, is this Type
24 variant, beach defence pillbox. In the background lies an earlier
defensive structure - Dunster Castle.

| The structure has an
unusually large embrasure in it's front wall which faces
northwards towards the beach and Blue Anchor Bay. Some Type 24's have a large embrasure in their front walls (see Forton
- on the Taunton Stop Line) but this is the largest I've seen. This photo,
and two on the following page, were taken on maximum zoom from Blue Anchor
beach so the quality is not good. |
